The Association of General Practitioners of Montreal (AMOM) exists thanks to your involvement. You can find all the information to understand the mode of operation in its constitution and regulations. Here are the main lines.


Annual General Assembly

Your Association, the largest in number in Quebec, represents a fragmented medical community that must be united to resolve issues that are specific to Montreal.

Attending the Annual General Assembly is an opportunity to interact with your colleagues from different practice fields. You will have the opportunity to meet the members of the Board of directors and of the Executive commity, as well as attend the annual presentation of the President of AMOM. You will also hear the presentation of the President of the FMOQ during his tour of the regional associations and participate, if you wish to do so, in an accredited medical training that will precede the AGM.

The Montreal region faces particular challenges. Our individual involvement and solidarity can counter-attack the negativity that is often present around us.

AMOM Board of Directors

The AMOM's affairs are administered by a Board of Directors consisting of ten elected members: four executive members and six sector advisors. The term of their mandate is two years and ends with the election of their successors. They are re-eligible. Each member of the Board of Directors also sits on the FMOQ Council as a delegate.

FMOQ Council

The AMOM delegates that sit on the FMOQ Council are made up of the 10 Board of Directors members and 18 other doctors.

Elections are held every even year. In accordance with the Association's constitution and regulations, the members' term of office for the Board of Directors is two years. However, due to the pandemic, the 2020 election was cancelled. The AMOM's next election will be held in 2021. Those who wish to get involved for the period of 2021-2023 are invited to apply for the position of their choice no later than October 12, 2021.

Please be reminded that the four positions mentioned in APPENDIX A are the following: President, Vice-president, Secretary and Treasurer.

As for the positions of sector delegates (APPENDIX B), one sector delegate shall be elected for each of the five sectors of the Association, i.e.: West, Centre-South,  Centre-West, East and North. For more information on the five sectors, please click here.

Election results - Fall 2018

The Association des médecins omnipraticiens de Montréal's Board of Directors was elected in the fall of 2018. Dr. Michel Vachon (President), Dr. Jean-Pierre Villeneuve (Vice-President), Dr. Marie-Pierre Laflamme (Secretary) and Dr. Samer Daher (Treasurer) were elected by acclamation.

Dr. Nathalie Girouard (South-West sector Advisor), Dr. Odile Kowalski (North sector Advisor), Dr. Isabelle Paradis (East sector Advisor), Dr. Didier Serero (West-Central sector Advisor) and Dr. Marc Gagné (East-Center sector Advisor) were also elected by acclamation.
